Building a website may feel daunting, but it’s one of the easiest ways to establish credibility as a new executive function coach.

In this post, you’ll learn how to create a simple yet effective website that communicates your expertise, attracts clients, and sets your business apart—without breaking the bank or overthinking the process.

Why does having a website matter as an executive function coach?

Your website is like a digital calling card. Without one, you risk appearing unprofessional, even if you’re excellent at what you do.

The good news is, your website doesn’t need to be fancy. Even a one-page site with a clear description of your services and a call to action can make a big difference.

Potential clients want a place to learn more about your business, and a website builds trust while giving them an easy way to connect with you.

Tools like TutorBird make creating a simple website quick and cost-effective, often eliminating the need for separate hosting fees.

What mistakes do EF coaches make when setting up a website?

Many new coaches hesitate to create a website due to these misconceptions:

"I can't code -- I need to pay someone"

1. They believe they need to know how to code, so they avoid starting.

"I need a business name first."

2. They feel pressured to buy a domain, choose the perfect business name, or master complicated software before building their site.

"I need a professional to do this."

3. They think they must invest thousands of dollars in professional web design or wait until their business is fully established.

These obstacles often lead to procrastination or unnecessary expenses, but they’re easy to overcome with the right mindset and tools.

How to create your executive function coaching website

Step 1: Use a free website builder

There are many free website builders out there. I've used Wix for my different coaching practices, but you can also use:

  • Square Space

  • Weebly

  • Carddd

  • And more.

For new EF coaches, I suggest using TutorBird because you can also use it to process payments, schedule sessions, and text clients.

Step 2: Use a placeholder name

Use a placeholder name like Sarah’s Executive Function Coaching Practice to get started.

You can always change this later as your practice grows and evolves. I started out as Sean McCormick Coaching, then transitioned to Executive Function Specialists as my niche became clear.

Step 3: Clearly state what you offer on the homepage

Create a homepage with a clear header stating what you offer, such as Online Executive Function Coaching for Teens.

Do not put something like: "Helping with executive function skills."

Someone should know without 1-2 seconds of landing on your website exactly what you offer. Below this, also put where you are located.

This will help with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) so that you show up in search results when people search for "executive function coaching near me."

Step 4: Focus on the client, not you

A common mistake coaches make on their homepage is sharing all about them, rather than the client.

Instead, focus on the clients using this simple copywriting framework called Pain-Agitate-Solution or PAS.

Pain

  • What challenges are your ideal clients experiencing, causing them to seek a coach?

Agitate

  • How is this issue impacting their lives?

Solution

  • What is unique about your solution? How will it solve their problem?

The bigger the pain, the bigger the payment, so ensure you understand that pain very well.

Step 5: Make your call-to-action (CTA) clear

Include a call to action in every section, such as “Book a free 15-minute consultation” or “Complete my contact form.”

Following these steps, you can have a functional website ready in just a few hours.

How do I accept payments?

Use TutorBird’s drag-and-drop widgets to create a sign-up form and set up payment options like Stripe or PayPal.

About Me

Hey! I'm Sean 👋

I'm a former public school special education teacher who realized that executive function skills are more important than knowing when George Washington crossed the Potomac.

Since then, I've made it my mission to teach anyone who will listen about how to develop these key life skills.

In 2020, I founded Executive Function Specialists to ensure all students with ADHD and Autism have access to high-quality online executive function coaching services. We offer online EF coaching and courses to help students and families.

Realizing I could only reach so many people through coaching, in 2021 I started the Executive Function Coaching Academy which trains schools, educators, and individuals to learn the key strategies to improve executive function skills for students.

In 2023, I co-founded of UpSkill Specialists, to provide neurodivergent adults with high-quality executive function coaching services.

When not pursuing my passions through work, I love spending time with my family, getting exercise, and expanding my brain through reading. You can connect with me on LinkedIn.
